Kilmore Racing Club is steeped in harness racing history. Some of the champions of the sport have called Kilmore home, including the legendary partnership of Vin Knight and Popular Alm.

The feature harness event at Kilmore Racing Club is the time honoured Kilmore Pacing Cup, run in late October each year. This event, often referred to as "The Melbourne Cup of Harness Racing", is run over a testing two miles and has been won by champion horses, trainers and drivers alike. Popular Alm, Koala King, Golden Reign and Vin Knight are just a few of the greats of harness racing to win the Kilmore Pacing Cup.

The Vin Knight Memorial, honouring the late great champion reinsmen is run in late March, and is also a feature event on the Kilmore Harness Racing Calendar. In mid January there is the Dual Code Race Day which is a great day for family and kids with lots of activities and rides to keep them amused.
