Kilmore's individuality is evident in the Turf Track, which boasts one of the toughest layouts and uphill runs in thoroughbred racing in Australia . In particular the home straight run that climbs four metres and challenges both horse and jockey, calling for individual race tactics unique to this track.

The feature thoroughbred event at Kilmore Racing Club is the time honoured Kilmore Cup run in February each year. This event, run over a testing mile, has been won by champion horses, trainers and jockeys alike. Eastern Classic, Keepers, Frank Reys, Harry White and Damian Oliver are just a few of the greats of thoroughbred racing to win the Kilmore Cup.

Regional Cups Family Day in mid October, Spring Race Day in early November followed by the Christmas Party in late November are all events not to miss. The Dual Code Day in mid January is also an extremely popular event, with large crowds attending these unique racedays each year.
